SocialPong (iosDevCamp 2010)

SocialPong is a crowd-sourced classic Pong game for iPad, with web-based mobile clients. It was created in 1.5 days in collaboration with Anna Billstrom for iOSDevCamp 2010. I created the pong game on the iPad; Anna created the server and mobile clients.

When a user connects to the game on their mobile phone, they are randomly assigned to a team (blue or red). The speed and direction of the team’s paddle is based on how many people on a given team are pressing the up or down button on their mobile web app. The demo went well during the hackathon and the crowd loved it. We won “Best Social Game” for this app.

I’ve participated in several hackathons in the past, but this one was the most fun!

The video of the demo used to be on ustream, but sadly does not seem to play now…
